Hey everyone, my name is Darren and I’m part of a group of friends putting together this GoFund Me for Luis. Back in September 2023, Luis suffered a sudden Ischemic stroke caused by an undetected heart defect and spent nearly a week in the hospital. He had heart surgery to repair the defect, and has been going through speech therapy, physical therapy and occupational rehabilitation for nearly a year to reverse deficiencies in order to resume work. This unexpected health event has been costly. Just a week prior to suffering the stroke, Luis had started a new job. Despite navigating the complex maze of medical tests, records collection and endless paperwork, Luis ultimately didn’t qualify for government assistance or short term disability......
